Gift Giving Guide - IGN (2024)

This is a comprehensive guide to where the gifts are locatedin Ferelden and who you should give them to for maximum influence. Written Byparico65 at IGN

Source of info: Personally grabbed all the gifts during aplay through. I used the crappy Prima Guide as a reference to double check someof my findings. Please don't buy the Prima Guide it's the worst written guideI have ever seen.

Gifts are ways to gain influence outside of your actions andthrough conversations. Gifts start at +5 influence if it's not something thecharacter wants and each gift after that loses one point until you are down toone point. If it's a gift they really want its starts at 10 and counts down to5. Certain characters also have special gifts that you need to unlock throughconversations with them. (Those with a * by them) These gifts always give you10 points or more it depends on how high your influence is the lower it is themore points you will get for the gift.

All Characters except for dog and Alistair can be asked toleave or will leave or even fight the PC for certain behaviors in the game.Having a high influence prevents most of this from occurring

Alistar automatically joins you at Ostagar and stays withyou for rest of the game regardless of what you do except for one act whichwell you'll see if you do it. To gain influence with him just baby him likethe boob he is and perform good acts. (Romance only by Female PC)

Found after Ostagar if you did a Mabari Hound quest. Ifyou're a Human noble he should already be with you. He's a dog his influencenever changes it's always maxed. He will however find you items and othergifts if you ask him to look for them. Put him in the party and see what hefinds.

Can be forced to join you at Lands meet this can result in Alistair'sdeath. Regardless he won't be in your party if Loghain is. There aren't manygifts for Loghain however if you don't rip him a new one and say you respecthis choices you'll gain 25 influence right away. He's got an interestingbackground story. By the time you get him there aren't any ways to gaininfluence story wise. Show him respect and you should be able to get him toaround 75 through gifts and dialogue. A good character to toss some of thejunk gifts at.

She will ask to join you in the Tavern of Loithering you cantell her no and she will leave temporarily. You'll meet her again by the exitto Loithering if you decline her second offer she's gone for good. To gaininfluence with her perform good actions and don't badmouth her religion. Shewill turn on you should you perform a certain evil act and you'll need to killher. (Romance Female and Male PC)

Morrigan joins your group after Ostagar and will stay tillthe end unless you tell her to leave. If you are playing an evil characteryou and Morrigan will get along fine. Some good acts will lose influence withher. Don't insult her in conversation and you'll be fine. (Romance only byMale PC)

He will force his way into the group in Orzammar and stayswith you when you leave. If he says to leave him alone in camp do so for amodest influence gain. Be nice in conversations Ohgren is a bit slow at gettinghis point across. One of the harder characters to max as there aren't a lot ofgifts out there and he seems to be unaffected by the PCs decisions in game play.

Shale is a tough one her gifts start at +5 and down to one Iused the Prima guide for some of her gift locations. Tell her she's useful andbe agreeable to earn influence in conversation. Another inconsistent charactershe will fight against you if you take her to the anvil of the void and sidewith Branka. If you kill Caridan she will leave if she wasn't there. Howevershe suggested I kill all the mages at the tower for fun so go figure.Performing her personal quest gains a lot of influence I got +34 for doing it.

Sten is in the center of Loithering in a Cage. If you don'tfree him before completing another main quest he will be gone for good. Stenresponds favorably to some evil acts and disapproves of senseless good actsthat detract the PC from his main task of getting to the Archdemon. Gaining influenceis easy just be firm with him and don't mock his beliefs. There aren't a lotof gifts out there for him so maxing him is a challenge.

She will join you at the mages tower if you allow here to.Otherwise she'll force a confrontation resulting in her death. She will forcethe issue at the end of the tower should you decide to purge it and can diethere as well. She like Liliena will try to kill you should you do a certainevil act. Wynne likes good deeds so a good PC will gain influence fast withher. Be nice in conversation and try to get her to warm status to open herspecial abilities.

After you complete one main quest you will meet Zevran andhave the option to kill him or talk to him. Depending on your influence levelwith him you may be forced to kill him later. He responds inconsistentlysometimes he's all for senseless murder others he will protest so it's a cointoss with him. Play your cards right and you can have a Foursome with himLiliena and Isabella at the Pearl in Denerim. This requires a maxed coercionskill and hardening Liliena while in and active romance with her. As long asyou aren't mean to him he's fairly easy to gain influence with and will likelyask to sleep with the pc very early regardless of gender. Tell him early for asmall loss (5 or less) if you aren't interested to avoid a major (-25)influence loss later.
